Driving Dynamics

The CX-30 is a blast to drive! It's so much fun on winding roads with precise steering and great handling. The suspension is just right, absorbing bumps without sacrificing the sporty feel. And that G-Vectoring Control thingy (I don't know what it's called) makes it even better. The car feels more connected and stable.
The transmission is efficient in normal mode, but if you want more response, you can switch to Sport mode. That makes the throttle more sensitive and delays gear shifts for a more exciting ride. Overall, the CX-30 is an awesome crossover with great performance and comfort.

The starting price for the Mazda CX-30 in 2025 is about \$26K, but it can go up to about \$40K depending on the features and model.
There's a 250-horsepower turbocharged engine available, but it's only on the more expensive models. If you're not looking for that, the standard engine will do just fine. We recommend the Preferred trim for most people, as it has all the essentials - an 8-way adjustable driver's seat, power sunroof, 18" silver wheels, blind spot monitoring, leather steering wheel and knob, and keyless entry.
All models have the same 2.5 liter 191 hp engine, and AWD is standard.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The CX-30's standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit with a power output of 191 horsepower. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that intelligently selects gears based on driving conditions. An optional turbocharged 2.5-liter engine is available, delivering 250 horsepower.
If you're a fan of the Mazda 3 hatchback, as we are, you'll find the CX-30 just as agile, athletic, and enjoyable to drive. Its precise steering and smooth body movements make it a joy to navigate on winding roads and provide a sense of stability while cruising.

0–60-MPH Times

On our test track, the CX-30 got to 60 miles in 8.1 seconds, which is a bit slower than some of the competitors like the Kona with a turbo, but it's still faster than other SUVs without turbocharging, like the Kia Niro and Subaru Crosstrek. But the CX-30 with an optional turbo engine was a lot quicker, getting to 60 in just 5.8 seconds!

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The non-turbocharged CX-30 is estimated to consume 26 miles per gallon in the city, 33 miles per gallon on the highway, and 29 miles per gallon on average. For the CX-30 equipped with a turbocharged engine, these EPA estimates change to 22 miles per gallon in the city, 30 miles per gallon on the highway, and 25 miles per gallon on average. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, our CX-30 Premium test vehicle achieved exactly the same fuel efficiency as its EPA rating of 31 miles per gallon.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The CX-30 has a really cool and well-designed interior, kinda like that of the Mazda 3 which we love. In the middle of the dashboard, there's a touchscreen infotainment system, which you control with a rotary dial on the center console. There's also a row of buttons for climate control, separating the upper and lower dashboard panels.
Customers can choose between 8- and 12-speaker audio systems, and they can also get heated front seats. If you go for the top-of-the-range Premium trim, you'll get leather upholstery, a power-operated tailgate, and all sorts of luxury features, making it a great rival to high-end cars like the Lexus UX and Mini Countryman.
As for cargo space, the CX-30 might not be the biggest SUV out there, but we managed to fit 6 carry-on bags behind the back seats, and 16 in total with the seats folded down.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The CX-30 features a standard 8.8-inch screen and Mazda Connected Services, which enable users to lock and unlock, remotely start their vehicle, and monitor it through the MyMazda app. The Turbo models come with a larger 10.3-inch display. The CX-30 also includes standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, Bluetooth, two front USB ports, and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality. Alexa Built-in is standard on all models except the base trim and allows users to interact with the vehicle using voice commands, eliminating the need for the infotainment screen. A native navigation system is available on the Premium trim and above, providing real-time traffic information and up-to-date maps through over-the-air updates.
