2025 Lexus ES

The Lexus ES is a luxurious vehicle, with a quiet and comfortable interior, a compliant suspension, and a wide range of standard equipment. The ES offers three engine options, including a mild four-cylinder, a smooth V6, and an efficient hybrid. If you are satisfied with these features, you can stop here. However, if you are looking for more excitement while driving, you may want to consider other options. Lexus tries to add some excitement with its F Sport trims, but they are only half-measures and compromise some of the ES's inherent comfort. The ES is a popular sedan for a reason — it is a relatively affordable option compared to the top German competitors, although it does not perform as well as they do. The less luxurious version of the ES is known as the Toyota Camry. It is available with two hybrid engine options and many of the same features for about $10,000 less.

What's New for 2025?

For the 2025 model year, a special edition package is available for the ES350 F Sport Handling. This package includes a few black-painted exterior accessories, such as mirror caps, a lip spoiler, and rocker trim, as well as F Sport puddle lamps. Only 1000 units will be produced, and the package has an MSRP of $1500, but it requires an additional $2465 in mandatory options.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price for the 2025 Lexus ES starts at $43,215 and can go up to $53,505, depending on the trim and available features.
When deciding whether to recommend the sportiest version of a car or a more affordable mid-range trim, we believe that in this case, the ES350 with Ultra Luxury equipment is the best choice for the sedan's mission and capabilities as a luxury vehicle. The Ultra Luxury package includes special 18-inch wheels, semi-aniline leather upholstery with a quilted pattern, a power trunk lid that opens and closes automatically, a power rear sunshade, and a steering wheel made of wood and leather. It also requires the Navigation package, which adds a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, in-car navigation, an electrochromic rearview mirror, a DVD player, voice recognition, and the manufacturer's Enform Destination Assist service.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Lexus ES offers customers a selection of three engine options. The ES250 is equipped with a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is standard with all-wheel drive. All ES350 models come with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 302 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The ES300h models are powered by a four-cylinder hybrid engine, which delivers a combined output of 215 horsepower. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive are standard. This Lexus sedan is known for its composed handling and forgiving ride quality, which is highly appreciated by many luxury car buyers. For those who prefer more dynamic handling, the F Sport trim adds larger wheels and a more performance-oriented suspension setup, although it may not be as thrilling as other models, such as the BMW 5-series.

DESIGN

STRIKING STYLE.

Built to enhance every emotion, the ES captures with its dynamic stance and sleek, coupe-like silhouette. It also features a provocative grille pattern and elegant LED headlights for striking illumination.

EXCEPTIONAL COMFORT.

The ES welcomes you to a spacious and comfortable cabin with ample legroom in the rear. Other interior amenities include a power-operated rear sunshade and soft, semi-aniline leather seats.

F SPORT EXTERIOR STYLING.

Strikingly styled from the ground up, ES F SPORT design and handling models feature exclusive 19-inch wheels with a daring gloss black finish. Signature upper and lower grille inserts, a distinctive front bumper, and unique F-sport badging add even more edge.
The ES Black Line Special Edition elevates the driving experience with its distinctive features. Drawing inspiration from the bold ES 350 F SPORT Handling, this premium sedan boasts a range of performance and aesthetic enhancements. The Black Line Special Edition introduces a black lip spoiler, black side-rocker-panel trim, black side mirrors, floor mats*, unique door switch plates, key gloves, and F SPORT puddle lamps.
The vehicle also features a sophisticated technology package, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with Lexus Interface*, a fully customizable Head-Up Display, and SmartAccess*
keyless entry.

0-60-MPH Times

On our test track, the V-6 ES350 accelerated from a standstill to 96 kilometers per hour in 9.8 seconds. The all-wheel-drive ES250 and the hybrid ES300h achieved this feat in a more relaxed manner, taking 13.1 and 13.5 seconds, respectively. The ES300h F Sport we tested reached 96 kilometers per hour in 12.6 seconds, which is a slight advantage, but not a significant one.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

According to the EPA, the Lexus ES350 gets 22 MPG city and 32 MPG highway. As expected, the ES300h hybrid is even more fuel-efficient, with ratings of 43 MPG city and 44 MPG highway. The EPA estimates the fuel economy of the ES250 to be 25 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. During our test drive of an ES350, we achieved 39 MPG on the 75 mph highway fuel economy route. The ES300h achieved 45 MPG on the same route, while the ES250 only got 33 MPG.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The ES's stylish, asymmetrical dashboard and high-quality materials create a luxurious environment for passengers in its cabin. Both rows provide ample legroom, even for those with long legs, and the seats offer comfortable support. Additionally, the cabin remains peaceful even when driving at high speeds, making it a pleasant experience for all passengers.
Both gas-only and hybrid versions of the ES offer 17.0 cubic feet of trunk space, providing more cargo capacity than rivals like the Volvo S90 (14.0 cubic feet) and Acura TLX (also 14.0 cubic feet), giving the ES an advantage in terms of cargo space. Unfortunately, the ES does not offer a folding rear seat, which limits its ability to accommodate larger items.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Luxury car buyers are looking for vehicles that offer the latest and greatest technology features, and the Lexus ES sedan does not disappoint. It comes equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system featuring a standard 8.0-inch center display, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, which allow for seamless device integration. A larger 12.3-inch touchscreen display is available as an option. All models include a 10-speaker audio system and SiriusXM satellite radio. Additional standard features include Amazon Alexa compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and music, Wi-Fi hotspots, and Scout GPS navigation.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

All ES models are equipped with Lexus's Safety System+ 2.5, which includes advanced driver-assistance features such as pedestrian and cyclist detection, automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. For more information about the ES's crash test results, please visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The ES's key safety features include:
Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keep assistance
Standard adaptive cruise control

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Lexus offers a more extensive warranty than competitors like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. However, it falls short of Genesis, which offers one of the best warranties in the market.
The limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles.
The powertrain warranty covers six years or 70,000 miles.
The hybrid component warranty covers 10 years or 150,000 miles.
Complimentary maintenance is covered for one year or 10,000 miles.
