2025 Kia Sportage
Hello, dear followers! In today's video, we will take a detailed look at the 2025 Kia Sportage model with you. This car is one of the most innovative innovations presented by Kia in the SUV segment.
With an updated facelift design, advanced hybrid technology, and extended safety systems, the 2025 Kia Sportage is here to amaze everyone. If you're ready, let's discuss everything from car exterior and interior design to performance and price details.
SUVs in the compact size are pretty popular because they're pretty versatile and have lots of space, with just a bit of style. But performance isn't really their strong suit. That's why it's no surprise that the Kia Sportage has a long list of standard features and a tempting range of options, along with that versatility and space, for a pretty affordable starting price.
The Sportage's two-row layout comes with a reasonable starting price. Still, there's a catch - its 187 hp four-cylinder engine just doesn't deliver the same kind of power as the more expensive Sportage Hybrid or plug-in hybrid models (PHEVs), which we'll review separately. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and all-wheel drive is available on all trim levels except the base model, and it's standard on higher trim levels.
Compared to competitors like the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V, the Sportage's prices are much more affordable. The Sportage has been redesigned for 2023 and it's all about the latest Kia automotive style. It shares a lot of its features with its sister car, the Hyundai Tucson. They have the same vehicle architecture, power trains, and overall size, but the Sportage seems to be more trendy compared to the more traditional Tucson.
What's New for 2025?
So, what's new for 2025 then? Not a lot, to be honest. Just a few minor tweaks to the best-selling Kia car. Why mess with a winning formula, right?
Design and Appearance
At first glance, the 2025 Kia Sportage is striking in its attractive and futuristic appearance.
The front of the car has LED linear headlights and a newly designed radiator grille. This design fits perfectly into Kia's "Opposites United" philosophy.
The side profile gives the car a strong charisma with its aerodynamic lines and 19-inch aluminum rims.
And at the rear, an LED light strip and a sporty spoiler complement the dynamic character of the car. These design innovations add both aesthetic and functional value to the 2025 Sportage facelift.
Hybrid and performance
Speaking of technology, one cannot but talk about the performance of the 2025 Kia Sportage.
The main highlight is the hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants of the vehicle.
The electric motor connected to the 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine provides a total of 226 horsepower.
The Plug-in hybrid version, on the other hand, can travel up to 50 km in full electric mode.
Fuel consumption is quite economical thanks to the hybrid system – an ideal choice for urban and long-distance use.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The Sportage 2025 starts at around $28.5k and goes up to around $39.4k Depending on the options, you can get a lot of extra features like a bigger 12.3" infotainment screen, wireless phone charging, and heated seats. The mid-range model, the EX, seems to have the best value for the money with all these cool features.
The 2025 Kia Sportage comes with a wide range of options.
Major options include X-Pro, SX Prestige, and X-Line.
Prices, on the other hand, vary depending on the supply level of the model. The basic versions start at $ 28,000, while the more luxurious models can reach up to the $ 40,000 limit.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Sportage comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 187 hp. It's paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and you can choose between front-wheel or all-wheel drive. There's also a hybrid version, but we'll review that separately.
The X-Line trim gives the Sportage a rugged look like it's ready for off-road adventures. The X-Pro model even has some extra features for tackling rough terrain. It comes on 17" black wheels with all-terrain tires, and it has a selection of driving modes.
0-60-MPH Times
During our first test drive, we tried both the regular four-cylinder engine and the hybrid powertrain. We liked the hybrid better.
On the test track, the regular Sportage was slow. It took 9.1 seconds for it to go from 0 to 60 mph, compared to just 7.4 seconds for the hybrid.
Towing and Payload Capacity
Although compact SUVs aren't usually the best choice for towing, the Kia Sportage can actually tow up to 2,500 pounds, but only if you've got an aftermarket towing system with a trailer brake controller installed.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The Sportage gets 25 city and 32 highway mpg with front-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive cars get 23 city and 28 highway mpg according to the EPA. On our test route at 75 mph, the all-wheel-drive X-Pro Prestige Sportage got 31 miles per gallon.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Inside, the Sportage is pretty cool with its sleek design, highlighted by the huge digital display in the dashboard and all the other great details. You can choose between a two-tone interior color scheme or an all-black one. The center console has a cool rotary shift knob and a push-to-start button and all sorts of other controls, all blending in with the piano-black surround.
The Sportage has plenty of legroom for adults in the back and 40 cubic feet of storage space behind the seats. Plus, there's a dual-level floor for even more flexibility.
Infotainment and Connectivity
On the tech side of things, the Sportage has some cool features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which are standard. It also has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and all models have a digital gauge cluster. But we'd recommend upgrading to the bigger 12.3-inch screen, which has more connectivity and clearer graphics.
There are also cool touch-sensitive buttons below the screen that let you control the climate and stereo. You can also get an upgraded Harman/Kardon audio system, a wireless phone charger, and a Wi-Fi hotspot (with a monthly subscription).
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The new Sportage has a bunch of cool driver-assist features. It has everything from adaptive cruise control that uses navigation to help you keep a safe distance from the car in front to a remote park feature that's basically like Hyundai's Smart Park.
Some of the safety features are:
Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking as standard
Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist as standard
Blind spot monitor and rear traffic alert as an option
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Kia has one of the best warranties out there, with a really long powertrain coverage. But it doesn't include free maintenance like Toyota and even Hyundai, which is kinda weird.
The limited warranty is for 5 years or 60k000 km, and the powertrain is covered for 10 years and 100.000 km. There's no free scheduled maintenance from the dealership, though.
