2025 Hyundai Palisade

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade is a practical and sophisticated mid-size SUV that has been a favorite of ours since its launch. It is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine, which is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard configuration is front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available. The Palisade offers a spacious and well-designed interior, with seating for up to eight passengers. The ride is comfortable, and the Palisade is not overly sporty or capable off-road. Its strength lies in its ability to seamlessly integrate a good number of standard features, such as technology, safety, and connectivity, to ensure passengers' comfort and entertainment. Those seeking more luxury can opt for available quilted leather upholstery, captain's chairs, and premium audio. While the Mazda CX-90 offers a more spirited driving experience, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee has a higher towing capacity, the Palisade strikes the perfect balance for suburban driving at an attractive price.

What's New for 2025?

The XRT now includes a standard parking distance warning system, as well as a 360-degree camera view. The XRT has been updated with a new mid-range trim called SEL Premium, which replaces the previous Premium package. Otherwise, the Palisade remains unchanged.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance.

The Palisade is equipped with a 3.8-liter V-6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. The engine's 291 horsepower provides sufficient acceleration, and the Palisade's transmission can be manually shifted using steering-wheel-mounted paddles for those who prefer a more hands-on approach. The gearbox operates smoothly on its own, but there is some shifting when climbing hills. The Palisade is available with a standard front-wheel drive, and an all-wheel drive is optional on certain trim levels, including SE, SEL, XRT, SEL Premium, Limited, and Calligraphy. The top-of-the-line Calligraphy Night Edition comes with standard all-wheel drive. All Palisades come equipped with a transmission cooler, trailer pre-wiring, and sway control, and are rated to tow up to 5000 pounds when equipped with a dealer-installed trailer hitch. Our test drive of a fully loaded Calligraphy model in Asheville, North Carolina, showcased the Palisade's smooth ride and quiet cabin.; We even ventured into off-roading and found that the large SUV was capable of navigating terrain that would be unthinkable in the urban jungle.

0–60-MPH Times.

In our trials, our XRT test vehicle with all-wheel drive achieved a time of 6.4 seconds for acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour, and a braking distance of 161 feet from 70 miles per hour.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG.

The EPA has reported that the Palisade, equipped with front-wheel drive, achieves a fuel economy of 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway. However, when equipped with all-wheel drive, the Palisade's fuel economy is rated at 19 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway.
During our 200-mile highway test, our all-wheel-drive SEL model only managed to achieve a fuel economy of 23 miles per gallon, compared to its rated 24 miles per gallon.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo.

The SE trim accommodates eight passengers, while other trim levels feature second-row captain's chairs that reduce the capacity to seven. The SEL Premium allows you to choose between a bench seat or captain's chairs in the middle. Regardless of your choice, there is ample space in all three rows for passengers. The second row has a button to move the seat forward, making it easier to access the third row. Power-folding second and third-row seats are optional on the SEL and standard on the Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition. The road noise is minimized, but a significant amount of wind noise can be heard through the doors. The cargo space with all the seats folded is 86 cubic feet, and in C/D testing, the Palisade can accommodate up to 33 carry-on suitcases with the last two rows folded down. With the second row in the upright position and the third row folded, the storage capacity is 46 cubic feet. When the third row is in use, the space reduces to a modest 18 cubic feet. There is a designated area beneath the cargo floor for storing items that are dirty or wet. The compartments in the doors are compact, but there is ample storage within and below the dashboard.

Infotainment and Connectivity.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth connectivity is standard across all trim levels. The system offers up to seven USB ports, allowing for the simultaneous connection of two Bluetooth devices. With the Blue Link app service, the Palisade can be controlled remotely through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, enabling you to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle from a distance.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features.

In addition to the standard safety features, many advanced safety systems can be added to higher trim levels. For more information about the Palisade's crash test results, please visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The key safety features include:
Standard emergency braking system with pedestrian detection
Standard lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist
Standard adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage.

Hyundai's warranty is among the best in the industry, particularly for the first owner of the vehicle. The company now provides complimentary scheduled maintenance that surpasses the offerings of competitors like Toyota. The limited warranty covers the vehicle for five years or 60,000 miles, while the powertrain warranty covers it for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Additionally, the company offers complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles.
